At the end of 2022, we had a breakthrough of highly capable large language models (LLMs). We discovered their incredible potential, and the world started scrambling to build useful applications with this technology.

We’re seeing glimpses of brilliance, and the potential could be vast. However, we’re also running into roadblocks.

Why We Won’t Be Seeing Fully Automated Luxury Communism Any Time Soon

In 2019, Aaron Bastani wrote a book called “Fully Automated Luxury Communism.” In it, he argued that advancements in automation could potentially revolutionize production processes.

With the use of machines and artificial intelligence, tasks that have traditionally been done by humans could now be done by technology. This would decrease the need for human labor and free people from the burden of work.

However, there are three major obstacles standing in the way of this fully automated pipedream.

1: Automation Is Hard

Automation of real world tasks is hard, especially using LLMs.
